Curved Lines

For curved lines, enter the chord in the bearing and distance field and
the radius in the radius field.

Radius
A positive radius means that the centre point of the curve will be
to the right of the line, the curve is clockwise.

If a negative radius is entered, the centre point of the curve will be on the left of the chord, the curve is anti-clockwise.

Angle > 180
If the angle at the centre is greater than or equal to 180 degrees, enter a "Y" in the column marked "Major".

Connections
Connections to the centre (Line type 998) are automatically generated from each end of each curved line.

Arc Distance
If only the arc distance is available, leave the bearing blank and
enter the arc distance preceeded by an 'A'. e.g. 'A 10.5'.
When the radius is entered, the program will compute the chord distance and re-display it.
The system assumes that the line preceding the start point of the curve is either tangential or another curve.

Group of Parcels
If the parcel is part of a group and there is a line in another parcel which ends
at the start point in the curve, then this line is considered the “preceding line”.
Thus a series of lots with curved frontages can be entered as a group and for each
curve only the arc length and radius need to be entered.

During this process, there could be multiple curves each with a different radius and centre.
The program will handle this type of problem providing the curves are tangential to each other.

Tangent Bearing
If a tangent line to the first point is not available, the bearing of the tangent
can be entered in the bearing field and the arc length preceded by an ‘A’ in the distance field.
If only a radial bearing is available, the tangential bearing is the radial bearing
plus or minus 90 degrees depending on the direction required.
